Turbo hopping with New Year wishes and gift

Every day I look and find more Students of Alex Jeffreys, each with something fantastic to give and to share. I don’t know about you, but I am finding it very difficult to keep pace with it all.

I’ve calculated that at my present rate of introductions it’ll be February before I’ve met everybody as I like to get a feel for the person behind the blog, and that takes time. I must work differently in 2009 because I have the sum total of no-one on my list at the moment and that has to change.

I want to give a New Year present to you F500 members, but realise many of you, for various reasons, will never make it to my blog either. So, please do not be offended that I am setting out now to visit as many sites as possible to say Happy New Year and to direct you back here to tell me what you would like as your New Year present from me. This will do three things: introduce myself to you, give you the opportunity to click a link to get to me easily, and for you to choose a present. I would appreciate being added to your blogroll if I am not already on it. I am happy to add you to mine when you come over.

Let the turbo oil-rig hopping commence …
Please don’t think I am being rude, but I’m going turbo hopping in that I have a message to give you, and I’m not tailoring my comment to go with the post it goes with as I always do. I hope this does not offend anyone as this is not my intention.

The gift is yet to be created, so go to the post four below this one: Choose your New Year present and leave a comment with your choice. (Sorry, can’t do internal links yet. Always lots to learn. It’s on my list.)

    Hi Valerie,

You are at least heading in the right direction. Making post on the blogs is very important no matter what you say. I have been very reluctant to post because I didn’t want to say something wrong.

You can stop by and post any time at my blog. You will later be post on just the blogs of those you connect with. These will be your potential JV partners.

    Happy New Year

    Hi Chelsea and David,

You early birds, you, but you’ve not got a gift yet. Please go to the “Choose your New Year present” 4 posts under this one and make your choice.

    Hi David,

Oh, yes, I know that direct activity on blogs is very important, but the point I was making is that it is taking up pretty much all of my time, and there are other things to attend to. Hence my turbo hopping, as I’m calling it. An around the F500 globe, as it were and then start to put the majority of my time to other matters. (For example, creation of the New Year present I was foolhardy enough to promise, but I thought it would ensure I have a unique product and had at least introduced myself to more people than I would have otherwise managed.)

Now then, how can you say something is “wrong” and that has caused your reluctance? It’s either a difference of opinion, or not quite right because you are not correctly informed, or you are inexperienced. No matter either way. Come on, David, join me as I embrace the experience of being out of my comfort zone. Get posting and commenting, and feel how exhilarating it can be. (I’ll hold your hand.)

    Hi Valerie,

I know what you are saying about trying to get round to all the blogs. I tried to make a realistic commitment to visit a certain amount per day, but I was spending too much time doing it.

Anyway, I’ve added you to my blogroll now.

    Cheers,

    Carl.

    Hi Valerie,

Thanks for helping me out last night. You were right. You were the only one that commented on that post and I just got my gift uploaded under the wire.

I had to use one of my other PLR products because there were already 7 people giving away “List Building With Alex”. Luckily, I have a hard drive full of goodies I can give away.

Don’t worry about feeling like you are behind. About half of the Fortune 500 have not even put up a blog. The sad truth is that a lot of them won’t take any action at all.

The important thing is that you have a plan and are implementing that plan. Only good things can happen from this.

    Happy New Year,

    JT

    Hi Valerie,

Well I’m back from my semi-retreat as I announced to the world due to family time over the Christmas period and thought it about time I paid a visit to your wonderful website. In fact if you check out the latest post on my site today I’ve start a ‘World Tour’ and you are my first stopover!! I’ve left my passport for stamping in the footer, LOL.

You mention it is going to take you until February to visit all the other student blogs. Well I am going to do the same but who knows how long it is going to take?

Does anyone know any ‘tools’ out there that can help with this ‘turbo hoping’ as Valerie calls it?

Oh, btw I’m updating my student blogroll as soon as I can get the problems sorted out with a plugin I want to use. You can rest assured that when it’s done you will have a prominent position. I know you were following the post I put up about the Blogroll positioning etc, and what to do with it. Well in my ‘passive’ mode over the Christmas period I’ve seen how you have come on leaps and bounds and persuaded me what to do with you, as it were. Hope that reads right :-)

Us Yorkshire folk should stick together to dominate the world, LOL.

    Hi Valerie,

Time is a valuable commodity these days. Back to basics and failing forward are very appropriate.

    Keep on keeping on.
    Happy New Year.

    Hi Garry,

I am honoured to be your No 1 passport stamp. I will be interested in how many people you visit, and how many I manage. I’ll wager you a pint of Taddy’s Ales (or whatever your tipple is) that I leave a comment on more F500 blogs than you do.

My goodness, what a bold, rash even, statement. It must be because I went over to Gazz-Man’s den and roared about plans and goals for 2009.

BTW, I hope it was a lit: turbo hoping is not the same as turbo hopping. It’s the difference between the wannabe and the doer. We all know your category, so it must have been a lit. But a lit in the wrong place, to the wrong person, and you may well be very misunderstood. (I am always careful to check I have not confused not and now for this very reason.)

Yes, I have been thinking about tools to speed it all up too. For now I am concentrating on getting around the world of F500. Then I will do some research and have some thoughts when I get back to Planet Valz for a well earned rest. Rest? Well, all things are relative, you understand.

    Hi Valerie

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment - yes we ladies of a certain age and like minded tendancies should stick together - we might take over the IM world yet! At least we understand one another’s issues…

I’m quite happy for you to keep this blog theme - after all great minds think alike, though it was quite surreal going from my blog to yours with the same theme but different content!

Like you I had been meaning to come over and visit - I’ve seen your comments over at Gazz-land. I quite enjoy the mental buzz of the Gazz-man’s site. I like Planet Valz - just need to come up with a title of my own now.

Things have been slow on my work for this business both over Christmas and the last few days. My daughter is going to her first posh dress party tomorrow night and I have been spending the last few days making the dress. Managed to have the iron too hot earlier and melted the back of the net overskirt so had a whole panel to replace. :( Too busy thinking about dinner and all the other mum thoughts. I must learn to concentrate on one thing at a time! Anyway think I might post a picture of the dress when it’s finished as I think it will look rather smart.

I always try to read my posts / comments before adding them as so often my fingers don’t type what I want them to and I want to make sure I get things right (part of being a literacy teacher I suppose!) I agree that there is a potential for misunderstandings, both intended and otherwise.

Anyway, well done for getting on with this blog and good luck with your turbo hopping. I need to join you in that task too. I have added you to my blogroll and hope that we can chat and support one another in this journey we are on.

I haven’t got down to your gifts yet, but will do so in due course.

All the best for a very happy and prosperous 2009.

    Hilary
